Well, there was no denying it. I woke up with a powerful and renewed sense of confident purpose this morning. Not that it hasn’t been there – it has just been eaten up trying to save my life’s work for the last month – work that many people are counting on.
(I made 4 quarts of Juice this morning and began Juice Feasting… but more on that in a moment)
After nearly 10 years of professional work, including: finishing a 3-year M.A. in Raw/Live Food Nutrition; the creation of the 92-Day Juice Feasting Program; writing books such as There is a Cure for Diabetes with Dr. Gabriel Cousens, B12 Exposed, and HyperLearning; recording The Secret of Juice Feasting; creating Revolutionary Webinars to host my books and projects; presenting the MicroAlgae Webinar… and investing the last 2 years and tens of thousands of dollars updating Juice Feasting and all the online systems required to present this growing body of work… it was all almost lost. . .
Perhaps you know the feeling. It’s like the ocean slipping away under your feet when you stand in the waves, the sand sinking beneath your feet.
So what does one do when life throws something at you like this?
Now it’s not that I don’t have backups, and backups of those… but the online environment – a place I consider an ideal component for any educator’s overall approach – it has changed a lot in the last 5 years since I released JuiceFeasting.com in 2008.
Anonymous bots and their human counterparts will hack and hack at a site (or in my case, all my professional work on my server) mercilessly until they get through.
And after breaking and entering, they do what can only be described as arson. So in May, we almost lost everything online to anonymous hackerbots, and it was only thanks my being able to see this for what is was (more on that in a moment) and a lot of very good professionals – including my colleague Mike Croteau – over 3 weeks of work day and night that we were able to restore my work in service to you and everyone who might benefit from it. If you could not access my presentations or websites during that time, thank you for your patience and encouragement. It was a real barnburner.
What Would I Coach You to Consider?
Now, if I was my coach, I would tell me that what I just encountered was evidence that I am on a Hero’s Journey, per the classic stages one encounters in literature, mythology, storytelling, film, and in real life all over the world. This has been a MAJOR theme of my teaching about Juice Feasting over the years (It’s Day 9 of the 92-Day Juice Feasting Nutrition Program).
The Hero (everyone is a hero… to be human is to undergo a lifelong series of heroic acts) decides he or she has a purpose – something to do. It is his or her thing to do – no one can do it for the Hero, and in some cases, there is no one else on earth to do it in just the way that the Hero will do it. It is the Hero’s daemon – his driving purpose or Unique Self Purpose.
And when The Hero sets his or her mind to it and is in full career of a goal, a way of being, or some greater purpose, The Hero will be tested. Guaranteed. The Kosmos throws significant challenges in the ring to see if the Hero is serious about the quest.
Sometimes he or she is not serious… and that we term “The Refusal of the Call.” Joseph Campbell writes of those that Refuse the Call:
“Often in actual life, and not infrequently in the myths and popular tales, we encounter the dull case of the call unanswered; for it is always possible to turn the ear to other interests. Refusal of the summons converts the adventure into its negative. Walled in boredom, hard work, or ‘culture,’ the subject loses the power of significant affirmative action and becomes a victim to be saved. His flowering world becomes a wasteland of dry stones and his life feels meaningless—even though, like King Minos, he may through titanic effort succeed in building an empire or renown. Whatever house he builds, it will be a house of death: a labyrinth of cyclopean walls to hide from him his minotaur. All he can do is create new problems for himself and await the gradual approach of his disintegration.” – Joseph Campbell, The Hero With a Thousand Faces, pg 49
Well, that ain’t me. My work – for my own self-expression of the creative evolutionary impulse and anyone who will in any way benefit from it – will continue into its next stages.
What you see me doing in all my projects for you is expressing my Unique Self Purpose…which is to help YOU recognize YOUR Unique Self Purpose.
So, Juice Feasting is coming out in a new updated version (the 6th major stage of its development in 10 years), and the projects that I am creating and co-creating will go online, stay online, and be of great use to people like you. My life – including my professional career and how I am able to teach – is about to jump a stage, and I am so pleased you are here with me to take part in it.
And like all major life transformations, it is important to be at the best level of health possible to meet the challenges. Being a new parent to two beautiful children in the last 3 years, a shift from Raw/Vegan into an Integrated Diet, and getting near my 40s has seen me put on some pounds that I can now release (you might be able to tell in the photo at the top of this post).
Enter Juice Feasting
So yes, I woke up this morning – coming solidly victorious and more wise out of a month of deep uncertainty about whether my life’s work would survive intense internet vandalism – and knew that it is happily time for me to Juice Feast again.
In total, I have probably Juice Feasted over 600 Days altogether over the last decade (my longest was 92 Days), but I have stopped counting. It’s a lot of experience, whatever the day count is – and being an advocate and caretaker for such a beautiful Life Practice is one of my greatest joys. I credit Juice Feasting with saving my life from years of debilitating acid reflux in the early 2000s, and many of the hundreds of thousands who have Juice Feasted over the years give it similar due credit for helping their bodies heal and strengthen.
So here I am at the grocery store – the “Juice Feasting Guy” – about to go in and get some produce. It takes 12-15 lbs of fruit and vegetables a day to Juice Feast, so I am going to be loaded up.
And life is busy at home with two small children under 4, the Juice Feasting CREW 5-Day Juice Feast coming up, the upcoming release of the NEW Juice Feasting site, and another 92-Day Program Mike Croteau, his wife Tamara, and I are writing up for release later this year. Juice Feasting is designed to allow you to continue your daily life while experiencing considerable healing and health benefits. In fact, many Juice Feasters, myself included, have found that our work improves while Feasting.
The Adventure is ON, and I would not have it any other way. Thank you for being on it with me, there is a LOT more to come… we’re just getting warmed up (or perhaps I should say, juiced?).
If you want to join me – I along with two great colleagues am putting on a 5-Day Juice Feast seasonally, here:

I am going to need a big cart! See you tomorrow.
